Voodoocreations: Good Service Negated By Website Ran By The Living Dead
To write a review, it's important for me to understand how people utilize the net, so that I can best see whether the needs of the public will be met by what each ISP offers. That's exactly how I explain myself to my wife when she catches me engaged in seemingly random surfing, which I prefer to call research (surfing is not a billable activity). I mean how am I going to understand what the public needs if I don't imitate its habits and it seems despite the growth of the net as a productivity tool, random surfing is still the preferred activity.
Well, in my research (practice substituting that word in every time you use surfing, and people will show you much greater respect) I've discovered some rather oxymoronic behavior that I feel compelled to share with you, including what led me to the conclusion I started this essay with. But first let's get down to business. This is after all about reviewing ISPs, and I know that you are eager to find out if Voodoo.net can provide you with the means to increase productivity as well as a few formulas for shrinking heads.
Generous Service Probably Better than their Website
They may not be able to shrink a head, but if you do want to drive someone to madness, send them to the voodoocreations.com website. Once there you will discover a great primer on how to set up a website to assure that your business will become a tax write off.
As an ISP, it seems they offer all the usual goodies and even a few extra benefits as well. However in order to realize that price, you are required to pay for a full year in advance. They are generous with web space, offering 20MB, and they say that they will give you as many POP mailboxes as you want, making it the ideal cite for the eccentric old lady who wants mailboxes for each of her canaries or for spammers who avoid junk mail filters by using a different email addy for every offer that they make.
Zombie Service Response
Voodoo claims live support, and maybe it is live, only just not responsive. My initial inquiry about ISDN to their out to lunch at 10:30 AM live response was responded to fairly quickly via email, but it took a couple hours to hear back again with the answer to my simple question. In my experience, a sluggish response is indicative of two things, either not enough staff or too many problems -- not a good omen in either case.
